The Congo Square was established in the 19^th century in New Orleans.

The Congo Square was a place where slave’s dances occurred. It was an open area to provide a real time and place of comfort, an actual transfer of totally African ritual to the native soil of the New World.

Sidney Bechet was a musician wrote in his autobiography, Treat it Gentle, “Sundays when the slaves would meet – that was their free day – he beat out rhythms on the drum at the square – Congo Square they called it …”

This community helped maintain a musical heritage and social cohesion in the African community. In 1817, the City Council of New Orleans passed legislation allowing African slaves meetings for dancing on Sundays. These meetings would take place in a public location chosen by the mayor, which was Congo Square.

Today, Congo Square holds a special symbolic importance to African-Americans. It is significant because of the role the square played in New Orleans’ musical heritage and as a symbol of the early African contributions to the origins of jazz and other American musical forms. 

nik-o-de’-mus (Nikodemos) 

A Pharisee and a “ruler of the Hebrew Israelites,

nik-o-de’-mus (Nikodemos)is a type of the “well-instructed and thoughtful Hebrew Israelite who looked for the consummation of national hope to follow in the line along which he had himself gone, as being a continuation and not a new beginning.”

Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a leader of the Hebrew Israelites. He was also a member of the Sanhedrin, the high court in Israel.

He stood up for Jesus when the Pharisees were conspiring against him: Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier and who was one of their own number, asked, “Does our law condemn a man without first hearing him to find out what he has been doing?” (John 7:50-51, (NIV)

He helped Joseph of Arimathea take Jesus’ body down from the cross and lay it in a tomb, at great risk to his safety and reputation.

Nicodemus also donated 75 pounds of expensive myrrh and aloes to anoint Jesus’ body after Jesus died.

The Gospel of Nicodemus and other apocryphal works narrate that Nicodemus gave evidence in favor of Christ at the trial before Pilate, that he was deprived of office and banished from Jerusalem by the hostile Jews, and that he was baptized by Peter and John. His remains were said to have been found in a common grave along with those of Gamaliel and Stephen.

NEGUS (n). Negaste. Niggers. Nigga.                            

A unique derivative of an ancient title.

NEGUS (n). is “King” a term originated from Abyssinia. A king- used as a title of the sovereign of Ethiopia. This term is originated by its native Ethiopian Amharic language. Since the creation of the title NEGUS (n) has been used to identify but defined differently to physiologically change the minds of captive Africans to re think of themselves as someone less than whom they were.

NEGUS NEGASTE (King of Kings) Prayer

A prayer of the Negus Negaste (i.e. King of Kings): “May the Lord of Heaven make strong my kingdom! And as he has this day conquered for me my enemy may he conquer for me wheresoever I go … (I will rule) the people with righteousness and justice, and will not oppress them.”

Where the title Nigger given to the enslaved through the African Diaspora mainly of Kings and Queens… and the tribes associated with royal ownership and prestige? Also did Afican Americans conveniently intelligently re word the title “nigger” to “nigga” to give it a less provoking sense of meaning for encouragement. Never Ignorant Getting Goals Accomplished was created by the late TuPac Shakur to stimulate a change in meaning from the “nigger” original re created term and title. I do not approve of re defining any ignorant word.

The practical sense of Slavery

The use of Slavery was acts of capture, seize, and control. Typically when an army goes out to take capture of someone they capture the person in charge to control the social society of a particular land and system. When a person captures someone they typically want to capture the persons in charge of King or Queen so it can show the rest of the village that they sense of power and leadership is gone and now your left to fend for yourself.

The thought provoking sense and duty behind slavery is to control. Does that mean capturing the King and Queens of the land or Chiefs and placing them into captivity so their tribal association can fall victim to poverty and non sufficient leadership. Without the presence of a dominant figure to administer the tribes and land to structure, that means people will fall victim to outside control and ruler ship.

Nigger is now discretely said and used in reference to describe any and all persons of African decent, regardless of social status, income or religion. It is also used to define an act of ignorance. As time manifest from the ancient origin the word has been re worded and translated in a derogatory and inappropriate use against Africans chosen through the Diaspora of the slave trade.
